The Year 2020

The New Year: 2020

Happy New Year!!

So what shall we plan, hope for and ultimately make happen in 2020? I suggest that we all sit a while and dream about the possibilities. Even if it is just for 20 minutes and 20 seconds. I wish that we could all share what comes to mind when we sit to dream for a while.

A single word that came to my mind, again and again, was the word “shout“. Shouting is a bit out of character for me. So, in thinking of how the word may be relevant, I decided to look up the meaning of the word. The Collins Dictionary defines the word as: “a loud call or loud cry”, which sparked a great idea. Here is my version of what the meaning of “shout” is to me:

S – Sheep. Sheep need a shepherd. They follow a leader.

They are not designed to carry burdens. They are humble, gentle and trusting. Yet when they have a need or concern or pain – they shout.  No burden-bearing in 2020. Shout out for those suffering or bearing injustice. Silence is a cowardly response. Political correctness is an excuse. If it’s wrong; shout out. If it’s good and just shout out.

S - Sheep. Sheep need a shepherd. They follow a leader.

H – Help. If I need help I will shout. If another needs help, I will hear.

So many need help. So much needs help. Every second of every day in the world a human soul dies of hunger. That’s wrong. So wrong. Help where and if we can. Our animals need help. Not just our own, but those we choose not to see or think about. That’s wrong. When a soul bows to assist; shout. Our environment needs help. When human hands stoop to clean up litter and plant a tree; shout.

H - Help. If I need help I will shout. If another needs help, I will hear.

O – Overcome. Choose to successfully deal with adversity. Daily.

Square your shoulders, look the adversity or bully or injustice in the eye and shout. No, I will not do it. No, I will not ignore this. No, I will keep standing. No, you don’t have to like me. No, I will not give up. Yes, I will do it because it’s the right thing. Yes, I will ignore this because it is wrong. Shout – either way. To shout is an action. Do it on purpose.

O - Overcome. Choose to successfully deal with adversity. Daily.

U – Unite. Together, and shoulder-to-shoulder, great things can be achieved.

Lay down a personal agenda and pick up a united agenda for the greater good. A personal agenda can bring division. A personal agenda can bring unity. Choose goodness above all else. The year cannot be redeemed. 2020 will happen only once. Be integrated into the team for goodness. Replace evil with goodness.

U - Unite. Together and shoulder to shoulder great things can be achieved.

T – Through. See it through. It will end. What you started; see through.

We will go through many matters. Shout.  This too shall end. I will not walk away if I can see this through. I will seek to see this through peacefully. I will walk through this with another, because someday I may need another to walk through something with me. Shout.

T - Through. See it through. It will end. What you started see through.

Personally for me, it is not about what I shout, when I shout, where I shout or how I shout. The crux is to whom I will shout. I will shout to my Great Shepherd. He always hears. He always cares and He always makes things beautiful in His time. My burdens, my cares, my failures, my successes, the cruelty, the injustice, the unfairness will be shouted to Him. He will replace doubt with faith. He will replace fear with perfect love. He will replace mourning with joy. He will bring beauty for ashes – if I give Him the ashes.

Repay with blessings. It always comes back to you.

Repay with blessings. It always comes back to you.

Have a balanced 2020. Have fun. Laugh a lot. Do your best. Enjoy the year!
