Marjorie Forssman

Marjorie’s focus role as a Director of African Blessings is corporate governance. Her knowledge and experience in this regard, gained through her professional career, means a crucial aspect of the custodianship of a Section 18 NPO is in capable hands. In her personal capacity, Marjorie is passionate about the development of sporting talent and ability amongst the Jochebed children.

 

Elize Potgieter

As a qualified accountant - BComm (Hons), Financial Accounting - Elize is ideally suited to her role, which is to oversee all the financial aspects of African Blessings and apply her knowledge and training to the safekeeping and management of funds and ensure that “a little goes a long way”, in these difficult economic times. Elize has a personal vision to create a lasting change in the lives of underprivileged and needy children in South Africa.

 

Ian Wilcocks

Marketer by training, Entrepreneur by opportunity, Leader by example, Sportsman by spirit, Religious by conviction and Developer by sheer guts, Ian’s contribution to African Blessings is invaluable and is predominantly related to finance. His personal vision is in the development of the children of Jochebed Children’s Village.

 

Delia Karayiannis

Delia brings endless passion and drive to the table in her role as a director of African Blessings, which means that what she proclaims becomes a reality. She considers herself privileged to be able to pour her life’s energy into creating a better place for all living creatures and her personal vision is the creation of a centre for rescued animals.

 

Bruce Lywood

A gifted and passionate sportsman, Bruce has a vision to “give back” though assisting children in sport. By sharing his passion and sporting abilities with the children at Jochebed, he will be able to participate in their lives in a meaningful way and encourage and develop their talents and abilities.

 

Riette Davies

When Riette speaks about her role as a director of African Blessings she talks about “accountability” – not just accountability in terms of her fiduciary duties as a director of a Section 18 NPO, but accountability for the vision. This means taking responsibility for the lives of the children that find a home at Jochebed and making a commitment to provide them with love and nurturing throughout the course of their lives.

 

Paul Edkins

Paul’s primary role as a Director on the African Blessings board is that of communications officer. His objective is to co-ordinate communications strategies that effectively describe and promote the organisation; its projects and vision. To this end, his priority is to create, implement and oversee innovative and effective communications platforms and media.

Ilona Derbyshire

As a professional nurse- B.Sc Nursing – Ilona has a heart for the underprivileged community, to see the disadvantaged rise up above their circumstances and become community leaders. Her desire is to ensure the health and safety of all persons living at Jochebed. Her objective is to assist with the establishing of a fully operational Primary Health Care Clinic on site, to meet most if not all the health needs of the residents. Her motto is "to help others to help themselves".
